"Frolic Architecture"

The Snow Storm

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Announced by all the trumpets of the sky

Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields,

Seems nowhere to alight; the whited air

Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven,

And veils the farmhouse at the garden’s end.

The sled and traveler stopped, the courier’s feet

Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit

Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed

In a tumultuous privacy of storm.

Come see the north-wind’s masonry.

Out of an unseen quarry evermore

Furnished with tile, the fierce artificer

Curves his white bastions with projected roof

Round every windward stake, or tree, or door.

Speeding, the myriad-handed, his wild work

So fanciful, so savage, naught cares he

For number or proportion. Mockingly,

On coop or kennel he hangs Parian wreaths;

A swan-like form invests the hidden thorn;

Fills up the farmer’s lane from wall to wall,

Maugre the farmer sighs; and, at the gate,

A tapering turret overtops the works.

And when his hours are numbered, and the world

Is all his own, retiring, as he were not,

Leaves, when the sun appears, astonished Art

To mimic in slow structures, stone by stone,

Built in an age, the mad wind’s night-work,

The frolic architecture of the snow.

Black Friday-Cyber Monday-Paul Mall

Working on my ToDo List for today I have had many interruptions. This is all a part of doing what I do-many different jobs all pertaining to my main job-Administrator to Pastor Paul's Mission.

Being a Blogger is an extension of my job as Administrator. So as a Blogger for Pastor Paul's Mission, today's post although an interruption of finishing my tasks on the ToDo List, fits in perfectly with today's ToDo List that focuses on the development of Pastor Paul's Store created to bring in Revenues to support Pastor Paul's Mission's free food distribution to the poor and needy.

Reading my email (not on the ToDo List) from Shop.org SmartBrief, I read:

"When considering whether to buy a product, online user reviews from a trusted site are the most desired information consumers seek, research from half-priced ticket seller Goldstar reveals -- and there's not a close second choice, the company's CEO, Jim McCarthy, writes. His company went through a careful process of research and explanation before launching its user-review program, because, he writes, "the live entertainment business doesn't need to hide anything." E-Commerce Times (11/19)"
The next email from the Mall of America Apple Store asking for my feedback about my training session was welcomed because this weekend Pastor Paul and I attended a OneToOne Training Session for the iPhone we purchased at the store on US Veteran's Day Sunday November 11, 2007. I had only tried to activate it on Saturday November 17, 2007 the evening before the session I had scheduled at the time of the purchase. I am not much of a phone person as I blogged about it in an archived post. Here is my Feedback:

"We proceeded to finish the activation process that I had started the night before when I received an activation message saying it would take longer than usual.

All went OK with our iTunes account.

It took us the rest of the hour to get the activation of the phone working with an ATT rep and then his supervisor. Donovan stayed with it the whole time and provided the needed help to get this done by answering questions, getting a store laptop, etc.

He then checked his schedule and checked with his manager and said he was available for the next hour if we had the time to learn about the iPhone. We did. He taught us how to use it by actually using it. It was an excellent training session. I have the store in my contacts with his picture for future reference to my training sessions.

We left encouraged and satisfied with our new purchase because we overcame some unexpected obstacles. I have named the iPhone-iLoveu in yesterday's twitter post November 18, 2007.

I have Blogged about my cell phone use prior to getting the iPhone . http://wwwpastorpaul.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html and twittered about my new iPhone-iLoveu. I am thinking about taking iLoveu to SecondLife."

Now about the ToDo List. I am hoping to check off at least one task today. What do you think? After looking at this blog, I need to add to my ToDo List: 'Learn how to edit Html' (maybe later...the Apple Store?)

Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #25-Full Assurance

Welcome to Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #25-Full Assurance.

This week's message addresses the doubts and fears that weaken us by sometimes confusing double messages regarding salvation. Taken from the scripture Psalm 35:3 David is surrounded by enemies and he prays for strength, 'Say onto my soul, "I am thy salvation." He is asking God to 'speak to his soul.' Full Assurance is having a personal relationship with God so that you will hear Him speak to your soul. By direct communion with God your fears and doubts will leave and power and strength will replace them.

Knowing, having full assurance, by faith you will enter the flow of God and he will speak to your soul. The only way to please God is by our faith in Him and what He has done, is doing, and will do. All three tenses; past, present, and future. When we enter the flow of God we receive His joy, peace and power. Our confidence yields rich fruit with hybrid seed. Assurance puts our hearts in heaven. We become industrious for the works of God because it is our hearts desire.

When you read your bible, do the scriptures have your name in them? Do you think God would write a love letter: 'To whom it may concern:'?

Where Has All The Disk Space Gone?

The Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode 25-Full Assurance will be posted later today.

We are over our quota of 1500 MB at 1613 MB. I am making room for today's Episode 25-Full Assurance. While we wait lets do the math.

  • At 24 episodes using 1613MB that is 67.21MB average per episode.
  • Take 67.2 MB x 1200 episodes = 80,652 MB (this is just MP3 files (You need a surfboard for the wave files))
  • Is 1,000 MB still a GB? How many GB of disk space is needed? Is 81GB a safe guess?
  • Let's look at time for the fun of it.
  • For 1,200 episodes at 1 episode a week how many weeks, or months or years would it take me, Jeanine Arnopoulos, Your Hostess with the Mostest, to produce the Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episodes Weekly 1,200 show series? (Are you still with me because I've started to get dizzy(I recover quickly))
  • If you answered 23 years, or 277 months, or 1200 weeks, You are right and I need to come up with a plan.
What is so ironic is that in today's Episode 25-Full Assurance I make the candid announcement of our 'New Podcast' that will post next Wednesday November 21 st the Day before Thanksgiving. It has a name dear to my heart.

Pastor Paul's 'Birthday Bash'

Pastor Paul's 'Birthday Bash' at his, Pastor Paul's Mission, was Incredible! He started the morning at 5am working frantically to fill the grocery orders for people in need of food. The doors opened and everyone started to move to a very fast paced beat with conversations, questions, laughs and even a 'Happy Birthday' song-unrehearsed of course. It seemed like a gathering of friends or at least familiar acquaintances-a good vibe. People who are familiar with Pastor Paul and his mission come expecting and leave fulfilled (full grocery bags).

I took part with these movers and shakers and it was truly a blessing. I had many conversations. I pitched Pastor Paul's website. I was surprised to find out how many people were interested who did not know there was a website. I am adding to the ToDo List; signs for the building and brochures for all the grocery bags. It is time to get the word out about the website and the pastorpaul.org community. Many people were very interested in the Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast. I realized I had been at the right place at the right time.

Currently, with over 6,000 active households registered for groceries, I had potentially thousands of conversations and listeners representing all ages and all races and many who had friends and relatives living in other countries spanning the globe. Where have I been? At Pastor Paul's 'Birthday Bash' I was inspired with new ideas, new projects, and longer ToDo Lists. I connected. Generally, my work calls for behind the scenes projects. I realized I need to be everywhere-to reconnect. I found Pastor Paul's Community.

As far as being everywhere all of the time, for the time being, I will leave that to God. On the other hand, with the help of God planning my steps and the ToDo List keeping me on track, everywhere doesn't seem so impossible...Does it?

Happy 75th Birthday Pastor Paul

Today is Pastor Paul's 75th Birthday. Starting his day at his, Pastor Paul's Mission, 5:00am sharp he will be preparing grocery bags that he will distribute to the people who need food and rely on him today.

He starts by adding perishables to the prepackaged grocery bags. This morning he has grapefruits, apples, potatoes-mashed and fresh, pkg frozen mushrooms & onions, 3-24oz mango juice, and 3-4 of bread items. The frozen meat items are given at the time people receive the grocery order. He will get the meat ready for distribution beforehand at this time. After all of the perishables are added to the bags, he checks for other food items to give away. He generally checks the boiler to make sure it is working to heat the building. Cleans up, breaks down boxes, and pulls other foods from the warehousing in the building.

Jim and Carolyn
come in at 7:00am and he meets with them. They all plan what else goes in the orders, what has to be brought in from the outside refrigerated and freezer trailers. Pastor Paul's Mission is known for distributing large quantities of perishables such as fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats and dairy products, and breads and baked goods. All of these foods need to be given away daily. Carolyn and Jim have many things to do before people come in at 9:30am expecting lots of good food. They are seldom disappointed.

Pastor Paul opens the doors at 9:30am to the initial 50 people who have been waiting some as early as 7:00am. People continue to come in until 11:20 closing time. Sometimes he may give the welcome shout, 'Lets Get Ready to Rumble'. Many conversations take place while he is opening the door. Many greetings, asking questions, like what is extra today, and then they visit with each other, usually about their expenses and concerns.

People are generally always very 'up' and come expecting. They know he is there and ready to serve them without holding back. Some may ask him questions and come to him for advice. He is always quick to answer 'honestly'. They appreciate his counsel. Many know him and love him and some are surprised that 'he' is Pastor Paul. Then for the next 2-3 hours he is there for them completely, physically and spiritually, without reserve.

He has become known over the last 30 years as a true friend who cares. A lifetime of 75 years and 30 years of friendship.

Trailer for Sasha Cagen's New Book "To-Do List"

Much ToDo About Nothing

In an early morning attempt to knock out at least one more thing I did not finish on my ToDo List from yesterday Monday November 12, 2007. I am starting early today November 13, 2007 at 12:39am.

Here are my two ToDo Lists:
Today's List is a continuation of yesterdays unfinished list.

Dates are helpful; Categories define projects;
M=Mission-5
W=Web-5
S=Store-5
H=Home-5
M=Misc-Not listed here

I was just going to start the blog post for today and I saw on the blogger dashboard a Blog Post about ToDo Lists. How incredible is that! The subject matter I chose to write about would have to wait. This is too good. Considering I never write ToDo Lists let alone Blog about them. So why do one today?

I have so much to do I need to try to keep my work in front of me continually. I never make ToDo Lists for this reason. I can never finish them because they are always toooo long with complicated things to do. For instance in this list, most of it consists of things I have to learn before I can even do the thing on the list.

When I look at this list it is impossible. On the other hand, I think I like the impossible. Why set your goals on something that is easy to attain? I would rather make the statement why not, than ask the question why?

I will probably continue to make impossible ToDo lists, to like the impossible, to ask why not and never finish the list. Then again I might and I'm going for that! Oh yea, let me cross off Blog Post on November 13, 2007, yea right...

Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #24-Grace

Welcome to Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #24-Grace.

Today's message 'Grace' helps us to understand the law. In a letter to the Galatians 4:21, the Apostle Paul asks the church, 'Tell me, you who desire to be subject to the law, will you not listen to the law?' Then he shows the difference between those who trust Christ and those who trust the law using an allegory of Isaac and Ishmael. Pastor Paul expounds on this allegory to help us understand the original promise, the covenant, of God to Abraham regarding Isaac.

Ishmael, the son of Hagar a slave, represents Sinai and the law that leads to bondage and death. By contrast
Isaac, the son of Sarah, the fulfillment of God's promise, leads to the 'heavenly' Jerusalem which is free having life. Pastor Paul shows how Christ represents the perfect Lamb created before the foundation of the world was founded. He represents the original covenant, the promise, to Abraham. Our faith, like Abraham's, is in the promise of God. Christ's sacrifice represents the unconditional love of God.

Are we bound or free?

Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #23-The Politician

Welcome to Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #23-The Politician.

This message is one of a series of messages titled 'Faces About The Cross'. Each in the series looks at one face about the cross. The face about the cross in the message 'The Politician' is Annas. He was the father-in-law to Caiaphas the high priest that year. Pastor Paul describes the political environment in Jerusalem just prior to the arrest of Jesus. Annas was instrumental in the political affairs of the times.

Pastor Paul states that we are all politicians at times. We are concerned with maintaining control and ask the question, 'What's best for me?' Most times we are not friends to the people, but only to ourselves and our groups.

Many times power and money can make people dangerous especially when they rule from behind the scenes. Money talks. Fear and envy are characteristics of cowardice. When a man's privilege is threatened he will not surrender to its loss.

Since politics is how a group will make decisions, we should examine how politics in our lives affects our decisions. Are we concerned with going along with the crowd/group? How easily are we manipulated by the opinion of crowds/groups? How do we influence crowds/groups? What relationship does God play in our decisions regarding the questions about crowds/groups?

Can we stand alone?

Scriptures quoted within Tongues of Fire-Pastor Paul's Podcast-Episode #23-The Politician.

Luke 23:28
John 18:13
