'This is the gate to heaven!'-Jacob's Discovery! Have you ever felt terribly alone? Jacob felt alone, homesick, and terrified of the silence. His heart was crying out as he went over his life possibly thinking, 'If I had it to do over again...', sound familiar? What a mess he had made out of his life by trying to take shortcuts. A clever trickster, he finally came to the end of himself. He wanted a change. It was as if he was deeply tired of himself. He was aware of his need-to find God.

Jacob was ready and willing to receive this discovery by an awareness of his own need. After making the discovery, knowing God was with him, he made a commitment. He valued gold and gold is what he committed. It was the beginning of a new journey with God.

Jesus prepares a place for us in heaven. He is the Gate to heaven. He said, "I am the truth, the way and the life."
