Pastor Paul's message asks the question, 'Are You Sleeping Christian?'. It is taken from I Thessalonians 5:6, 'So then let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.' Here the apostle Paul is speaking to the Thessalonian church. He visited Thessalonica a flourishing seaport around A.D.49. It was a successful commercial center.

Pastor Paul compares the state of sleep for the Christian as complacency. For the Christian it is a dangerous insensitive vulnerable state. Christians are called to be awake to the spiritual and physical needs of others. We should be prepared to minister to the needs of others. In order to do this we must be awake.

Sometimes complacency comes by contentment by not suffering need. In the natural if we are content and in need of nothing, it is hard to understand others have needs. This is insensitivity and a state of sleeping. However, if we understand the needs of others and do not care, our complacent attitude turns darker by justifying the insensitivity stating, 'Its not my problem'.

If we know to do good and we do it not it is sin. Because it is more blessed to give than to receive, we lose the blessing that would be gained by helping. On the other hand, when we are sensitive to the needs of others we are burdened to help this burden keeps us awake.

The state of sleep robs us of time spent serving God and the blessings these experiences bring. The more we are involved and the more we do, the more we want to do. The same is true about the inactivity or sleep, the less we do the less we want to do and then the less we care. We justify our inaction by confirming, 'Its not my problem'. Who is the loser? We are because all we have gained is a sleeping state, a carnival like state that puts us into illusions. We are not connected to man or God.

Listen to the message and repeat the end when Pastor Paul takes you to the cross of Christ. It will wake your spirit. Because of the length of the message the tape ran out just as he was saying...Jesus is the Son of God.

Believe Jesus is the Son of God, believe what He said, believe what He did, believe He conquered death, believe He conquered hell, and believe He is coming again. By watching the sign of the times, you know He is coming soon-Stay awake Christian.
