Can the world be next to you and not know you are there? Has your salt shaker lost it's savor overnight? Has your faith been tried lately?

These are a few of the questions Pastor Paul's message 'Salt' opens up to us like wounds that need healing. Both as a preventative and preservative application, salt cures. In the messages he uses the example of rubbing salt on meat to preserve it. It dissolves into the meat and is invisible, but the meat takes on the salty properties and is cured. Have you rubbed off on anyone lately?

Many people leave at the first indication of persecution. We are encouraged by Christ's example. During His Sermon on the Mount in Mathew 5:1-12 The Beatitudes many left Him after He said,

Mathew 5:3-12
'Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'
'Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.'
'Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.'
'Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.'
'Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.'
'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.'
'Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.'
'Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'
'Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.'

When many leave, the few who remain have a deeper richer commitment. The 'Salt of the Earth' will do good with earnest vitality and be known by their fruit.
